A2IM is a
Non-Profit Corporation made up and operated by its members this includes over
200 record labels. These record labels range from New York to Berlin, and
include all genres of music. As I continue my journey into the music industry
and continue to work toward becoming an Artist Manager, I will work along side
independent labels. My goal is to help unrecognized musician a platform to be
heard, and that is the mission of A2IM as well. There are a lot of amazing
musician in the mainstream. There are
equally a lot of musicians who have not made it to the mainstream that deserve
to be heard regardless.
A2IM started seven years ago and has since furthered their
abilities to help the community of independent labels. They formed a three part
agenda:
- Advocacy/representation for independents on issues affecting the music community.
- Finding commerce opportunities for members.
- Providing member services which include, educationing on issues, networking and presentation events, special offers and general business advice.
A2IM represents a broad coalition of music labels including
over 30% of American music sales and 80% of all record releases and continue to
dominate certain niche markets. They will continue to create an appealing
premium sponsorship and other support opportunities. “A2IM has established a
gateway for advertisers, agencies, internet streamers and distributors, and all
downstream users of music to access the Independent labels more efficiently”
(A2IM).
