Music changes people

Music in America reflects the ideals of a country that has built itself on a foundation of freedom and cultural diversity. From the drums of the battlefields to the beat in the nightclubs, music has become the essential lifeblood of the American soul. New music genres continue to open doors for artists all over the world, and as you might expect, America welcomes the diversity with open arms.”

Music has been the one constant thing that has been in my life and helped me through many negative and positive situations. It makes me happy, it keeps me positive and soothes my soul. “I believe in the music, the same way some people believe in fairytales” Music is what makes me feel alive. The beats run through my veins, the harmonies are comforting and make me feel like nothing else matters as long as I am listening to the sounds.

When was the last time you went anywhere and did not hear music? Music is on at the grocery store, gym, restaurants, hair salons, its in our favorite movies and shows. Music is played to relax customers, there are psychological affects associated with playing music at stores. Customers who hear music seem to be happier and therefore are more inclined to spend money, when in a good mood. Employees are more motivated and work better when music is being played.

As far I can remember music has always been an influence in my life, from signing in the school choirs, to playing the saxophone, and clarinet for the school band. My family all loves music with an array of different genres; it depended on who got to the radio first. On any given day there could be Mary J Blige, ZZ Top, Bob Marley, or Reba McIntyre.

Music will continue to be my therapy.

Paying it Forward in the Music Industry

There are so many big names in the music industry such as Lil Wayne, Eminem and Jay Z. Each of these artists paid their dues and will continue to make great music. Many up and coming artists are putting in time and effort to make it in this industry. It’s the beginning of the year and we will be hearing and seeing new Artists emerge. This blog illustrates 2 of the 10 artists that made The Top Ten of 2012 hip-hop artists list. The music industry has new hip-hop artists that are currently on the road to success and making great music for the fans. They are signed to some of the same labels as the more successful artist we know today. As these artists progress in the music industry, the veteran artists will be there to support and mentor them. To keep the industry growing, these artists will then pay it forward, by supporting up and coming artists. We will continue to hear and see new artists break through into the music scene.

Tyga (Thank You God Always) is one of my favorites with his second studio album released in 2012, Careless World: The Rise of the King. This album is represented by Lil Wayne’s record label, Young Money. I had a privilege to see Tyga in concert during his tour in 2012. His talent is nothing like I have heard before and I enjoy listening to his beats. Check out his fourth single “Faded” featuring Lil Wayne, it landed #33 on the top 100 Billboard charts.

Wiz Khalifa an artist, who is well known for his rebellious ways, but manages to collaborate successfully in the music industry. With featuring in two in-different genres of music (T-Pain with “5 O’clock” to “Payphone” with Maroon 5) Wiz continues to show his versatility in this industry. Wiz Khalifa went to Portland, Me during his Rolling Papers tour in the summer of 2010. This was the first time I realized standing next to my younger cousin that I wanted to learn how to be helpful in this industry.

As I continue to grow and learn more about the music industry I would love to work, help promote and market up and coming artists. My goal is to find talent that has yet to be recognized.
